Tristan and Basketball

Tristan is quite the energetic boy and he loves any sport with a ball involved. Since it is winter and we stuck inside quite a bit, he needed someway to release some energy. We signed him up for Upward Basketball. It is a Christian program that helps kids learn the game of basketball, while using Bible memory and devotion time to teach the kids about God. We had the program recommended to us by quite a few friends. They practice on Friday evenings and have games on Saturday mornings.
His team has been practicing for about four weeks now and they had their first game last Saturday. The whole family attended, even grandma, grandpa and uncle. It was so fun to watch the first and second graders learn/play the game. Tristan did really well, too. He scored 4 of the teams 7 baskets. He was quite proud of himself. At the end, he said, "I like basketball better than soccer." This melts my heart, because I have a great love for basketball, also, as I played through high school.

Lost Teeth

Two weeks ago, Tristan lost his first tooth. The kids spent the day at my friend Holli's while my mom, sister, Nate and I went to Cambridge for the day. While he was at Holli's, he pulled his first tooth. Tristan didn't tell anyone and Holli saw later in the day that he had lost it. She asked him why he didn't tell anyone. He said he didn't want her to take his tooth. He kept it tucked safely in his pocket all day. He was very excited to put it under his pillow that night and even wrote the tooth fairy a note asking how big she was. He got a nice note in reply saying she was about 12 inches. He went around all day asking people how big they thought the tooth fairy was and then telling them the correct size. I love six year olds!

Three days after that he lost his second tooth. This time he wrote a note to the tooth fairy asking if he could keep his tooth. She gladly left his money and his tooth.

Happy Birthday, Tristan!

Today, we are celebrating Tristan's sixth birthday. He was up bright and early to begin his special day. After everyone was up and before daddy went to work, he opened his gifts. He was excited about a Lego monster truck, Lego pirates, a watch, a cricket set and a picture from Grandma F. Mommy made Tristan's favorite breakfast, pancakes. Yum! Tonight Tristan decided we will go to McDonald's for dinner. We will meet daddy in town when he is finished work. After that we will come home to enjoy, cherry chip birthday cake.

Tristan, we love you so much and are excited and thrilled to see you grow another year older. You are such a good big brother to your sisters and Nathanael. We adore your energy and the way you play so hard. We can't imagine our lives without you. We love you, buddy!
